Woah. I’m featured in the Kansas City Star!
Check it out — the Kansas City Star ran an article that features an interview with me! I really had no idea this was going to be a feature in the Star… too cool!

nice. i'll be checking your feed for those kind of posts.
wow, typos galore in my comment above. i better work on my personal brand of looking more intelligent online! ha.
Thanks Justin -- I'll try to do more blogs about Personal Branding, share what I know and my experiences with it.
great story and write about you ramsey.
AND comment - i think you should post more about shaping your personal brand / digital reputation. and how to maintain and establish it so that it aligns and strengthens what you want to be known for.
another cool detail (the reference to digital navtives) of the story includes a blog post-in-progess of my own inspired by "digital natives, digital immigrants" - an academic article written by Marc Prensky IN 2001!
the essence of Prensky's document being that children are natives to digital culture and that educators need to learn and embrace new ways to relate and teach. as they are immigrants into an unfamiliar digital culture. a truth that we are seeing unfold in several ways. one clear example, found in the kc star article, are those who are embracing the web as part of their identity and personal brand.
Steve -- I disagree with the phrase "shameless self-promotion". I what I do focus on is personal branding. The difference? Personal Branding is building and managing the associations people have in regards to yourself about a specific field or topic (or several). For example, because I publish several types of content with substance about my opinions regarding the technology industry -- people I've interacted with online and offline form mental associations about me, therein by building a personal brand. If you're posting things of substance and have value, it's much different than what I think you're implying by saying "shameless promotion" -- which to me is just SPAM or trying to push a big "sale" or some sort. Regardless, personal branding is important. In this day and age when "googling" people's names to do research is a common practice, that's reason enough to take note that managing your personal brand online is important. You tell the story, before someone else tells the story for you.
WOW!! That's really cool!!!
I was once featured in a news paper. Under the police blotter section. But, hey - whatever it takes.
Well done. Hope you're getting a copy framed for your office!
