Occasionally, I share on my blog photos I take with my cameras (aka my “babies” aka the Canon 40D or my S90). I love taking my 40D out for practice when I’m on the golf course. This shot in particular, made me smile because it turned out great! The detail captured in the shot is great (plus, it makes my friend Adam look like a super-professional golfer ) This was taken with my 40D, at 135mm, f/5.6, and a 1/500 exposure (I also used a polarized lens filter).
This is a photo I took of one of my best friends in the world, Lauren (every once and a while, she tags along to golf with me and my friends). I really thought this photo capture was particularly cool with all the spring blooming colors framed around the shot. Not to mention, the photo captures Lauren’s strength + awesome drive off the 13th tee!
One of my goals for 2010 is to take 1 creative photo each week. This has been a fun ongoing challenge for me, with mixed results (i’ve taken some really bad photos, and some good photos). Stay tuned to the blog for more photo blog posts in the future.

These photos are from this weekend- I managed to sneak in a round of golf here in Kansas City. It was a gorgeous 70 degrees (and it’s November!). Golf for me is one of my favorite ways to relax in life. It’s my decompression from the stress of business and the everyday craziness. For the most part, I’m electronics free and unplugged when I play (although I do take my camera + cell phone with me, but use them sparingly).
Both the personal challenge (you vs. the course) plus the time I’m able to spend chatting with good friends makes golf an enjoyable sport and great decompression activity.
What do you do to decompress from the stress of life? How do you unwind and reset on life?

I’ll admit, there’s nothing special about these photos — just a few photos I snapped while golfing on a cheap golf course (in this economy!?!) last weekend with one of my best friends Trent (more on my flickr page). If you follow me on Twitter, you probably already know I love golf. Also, you might remember, one of my goals for 2009 is to improve my wicked skillz at being a photog (ok, maybe they’re wicked …at least, not yet).
Checking my list of goals for 2009 was refreshing- I’m making decent progress. Still lots of work left to do. How about you? How are YOUR goals / new years resolutions for ‘09 going? Have you achieved things you’ve wanted to for the year already?
This past weekend I attended the Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired (CCVI) night golf tournament. My friend Allison, volunteers for the CCVI and when I heard the words “golf” and “benefit” — I was sold.
What was unique about this golf tournament, was the back 9 was played in the dark. Yes, you read that right — in the DARK. It was AWESOME! They setup glow sticks down the fairway and on the flag pins and you hit with “light-up” golf balls.
I video blogged the experience, watch it below. It was hard capturing the “night footage”, but the video gives you a pretty good idea of what it was like.
