Halloween is one of my favorite holiday’s of the year. I think you’re never too old to get dressed up in a costume for Halloween, and make a complete idiot of yourself! My costume this year didn’t top previous year’s legendary costumes …like cutting my hair to look like Kanye West or building a helicopter hat to look like Inspector Gadget. BUT, I still had fun with it. This year, I decided to be the YouTube viral -slash- TV commercial sensation, the “Old Spice guy”. I also posted the full set of photos from the Halloween party I went to this year to flickr.

The night that Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift at the VMAs I remember writing down- “note to self: Kanye West at the VMAs would be a great Halloween costume”

If any of you remember seeing my Inspector Gadget costume from last year, you know I really enjoy dressing up for Halloween. Annnnnnnd I’m definitely not one to just throw a costume together last minute. One of the best parts of Halloween is the process of thinking -then- actually constructing (not purchasing) an original costume.

All that said, I snapped some photos at the Halloween party + shot a quick video blog of how the my hair was cut exactly like Kanye’s the night of the VMAs. Most of my friends were pretty shocked I did this- but everyone seemed to enjoy it. If you were wondering, I did also interrupt the DJ playing music at the party at one point of the night …in true Kanye West style

This past weekend I attended HillOween, a local homegrown benefit here in Kansas City. I tell everyone that this is truly one of the two parties in KC you CAN’T miss. It benefits the Lee Ann Infant Development Center. I video blogged about it last year.

Check out the costume I wore this year… Insepctor Gadget! The entire thing is pieced together. I actually had a fun adventure at the hardware store trying to figure out how to make the “helicopter” hat (it’s just, PVC pipe, wood and electric tape). My date was Penny — you know Inspector Gadget’s niece?

I snapped some photos of my friends before we went to HillOween — check out this one of my roommate Adam. I thought the black and white effect, Adam’s cold facial expression and composition in this photo make gives it really eerie overall feeling.
